U.S. Army WW II veteran, retired Republic Aviation aircraft mechanic, former security guard at Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn. Beloved husband of 70 years to Margaret (nee Walters). Loving father of Margaret Zaug, James Gresalfi, Linda Selvaggio and Diane O’Callaghan. Proud Pop-Pop of nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A Prayer Service was held Friday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home, followed by interment with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. Ellen J. Galgano of Bethpage passed away Oct. 31, 2013. Beloved wife of 62 years to Alfred. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Victoria and David Szalda, and Alfred and Nancy Galgano. Arthur Joseph Marino of Bethpage, passed away Nov. 3, 2013, after a prolonged illness. Arthur was born in Manhattan on March 13, 1921, the son of the late Anthony and Antonette Falcone Marino. Arthur was a former seafood department manager in local grocery stores in the Bethpage area. He was an active member of the VFW Post #9592, Levittown, and the Senior Citizen Golden Age Club of Bethpage. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, participating in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Arthur is survived by his two children Rose Holzbaur, wife of Dennis Holzbaur of Kings Park, NY and Dr. Glen Marion, husband of Heather Brewster Marino of Orwigsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Ryan Marino, of Clemson, NC, Sarah Marino of Orwigsburg, PA, Andrea and her husband Ted Borny of Juno, AK and Nathaniel Marino of Orwigsburg, PA, and one brother, George Marino. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his Wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Mikules Marino, brothers Steven, James and Pasquale “Pat”, and sisters Ann Cropper, Theresa Marino and Mary Bellinghouse. A VFW Service was held at the funeral home Friday evening, November 8. Interment with military honors took place Saturday, November 9. at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.

Devoted father of Roy Jr., Edward, the late John A, Michael (Kerri), and the late Mark, loving Grandpa of Shaun, Jessica, Justin, Kate, Timothy and Madison, and loving brother of Jean Crispino. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Bazylewicz was also a charter member and former Chief of the South Farmingdale Fire Dept. Berthold Daniel Willenbrock, a former 54 year resident of Farmingdale, passed away on Nov. 4, 2013. He was in his 98th year of life. Beloved husband, married 72 years to his late wife Jean Allan. He was the loving leader of three generations to include his daughters Jean Marie Bogiages and her partner Scott Cole and Carol Willenbrock and her partner Lou Anne C. De Baca, and his son Paul Willenbrock and wife Lynn. Also loving grandfather of Brad Willenbrock and  wife Christina, Megan Willenbrock, Christina Bogiages and  husband Andre Barbosa Garcia and the late Andrew Bogiages. Great-grandfather of Braden, Amalia and Gabriela.  Born in Mount Vernon, he proudly served as Second Lieutenant in the US Army, taught English in the School for the Deaf as well as in Patchogue.  He retired as Vice President of Student Affairs after 25 yrs at the State University New York at Farmingdale. Bert enjoyed swimming, tennis, bowling and bridge as was always happy to teach these games to others.  His life’s goal and purpose was to love his family and through counseling, to continuously help others improve themselves through positive thinking and education.  A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held in December in Wisconsin where all the family will convene traveling in from Massachusetts, California and Brazil.

 

Donations may be made to the Farmingdale College Foundation, 2350 Broad Hollow Road, Farmingdale, New York 11735. Monies collected will be awarded to a dorm student in need of financial aid and given in the name of Berthold D. Willenbrock.

John C. Savalli Jr., 65, of Addison passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 22, 2013 in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Savalli was born April 11, 1948, in Brooklyn. He graduated Farmingdale High School and earned his post-graduate master’s degree from Adelphi College. On Feb. 11, 1978, he married Linda Donato in Lindenhurst. He was a loan counselor for VSAC for the past 14 years until his retirement in March 2013. Prior to that he had worked as a banker. 

Savalli is survived by his wife, Linda Savalli; sons Louis S. Savalli and wife, Kelly of Clifton Park, and John R. Savalli and partner Erin Donovan of Setauket; daughter Chrissy Driver and her husband Andrew of Hinesburg; brother Carl Savalli and wife Jane of Hauppauge; grandchildren Elizabeth Hahn, Hunter and Autumn Driver, and Ava, Alexander and Blake Savalli. 

 

A memorial mass was held on Friday Oct. 25 in Middlebury. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s School, c/o 326 College St., Middlebury, Vt., 05753.

Barbara Jean Post, a Longtime Farmindale resident, passed away at age 81 on Nov. 12, 2013. Born January 9, 1932 the daughter of the late Howell and Dora Post. She graduated Hartwick College with a teaching education degree and earned an advanced registered nurse degree from Columbia University. She spent many years and both a nurse and a teacher in the Farmingdale Public School District. Longtime member and past president of the Farmingdale—Bethpage Historical. Barbara Jean traveled extensively. This included Iceland, Haiti and Hawaii. She enjoyed hiking the nature trails of Long Island. She was also an active member of the Suffolk County Historical Society. She is survived by her cherished brother, Adrian Post. Visitation was held at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home Friday, November 15. Burial took place in her family plot in Nicholas Cemetery, Nicholson, Pennsylvania on Monday, Nov. 18.
